How’ve you been?
Good to see you, my old friend
Sometimes I feel cold as steel
Broken like I’m never gonna heal
I see a light, a little hope
In a little girl
Scarlett actually turned 2 months old before I got her birth announcements sent out. Yikes. It’s mostly my fault but it’s also a little bit FedEx’s fault. My original shipment was never delivered or the package got stolen or something. I have to think that jerks that steal packages from people’s porches would go for the Amazon or Target boxes instead of the bright orange Shutterfly ones but maybe not. At any rate, TinyPrints was really cool about getting them reprinted and sent out for no charge but it did delay me getting them out by another 2 weeks.
The first step to any good birth announcement is amazing newborn baby photos. Props to all those amazing women that actually get themselves upright and their whole families put together enough to be in the newborn baby photos. I am not one of those women. I justified this by saying that Scarlett will likely never get any photos of just her since she is our 2nd child so this was her chance to shine.
For Scarlett’s entire first year we will get the pleasure of working with Christina Lundeen (of the aptly named Christina Lundeen Photography). On December 16th I packed up an 11-day old Scarlett and headed to Christina’s Brookside studio. Things started off a little rocky because I insisted on taking photos in Scarlett’s “coming home” outfit. This made for a very sweet picture but then it also made for a very awake baby when I had to undress her and re-dress her for the other photos…
I also insisted on her capturing a very difficult photo idea similar to one that I had seen hanging in my OB’s office.
It came out so cute but now on top of an awake baby we had a mad baby because we made her lay on a very hard surface with dolls crammed around her.
In addition to being an amazing photographer, Christina is also an expert-level baby whisper. She got Scarlett back to sleep in no time and then away we went with the rest of the shoot, in all it’s snuggly, sleepy newborn babe goodness….
I am thrilled to be able to work with Christina several more times in 2018 to capture the rest of our Scarlett Jaye’s 1st year but these newborn shots are going to be hard to top!
As for the announcements…
The perk of being extremely behind on sending out my December baby’s birth announcements was that I could take advantage of some gorgeous Valentine inspired designs TinyPrints had.
I am so, so happy with how they came out although it was hard to narrow down which photos to use! Also, how perfect are those Rifle Paper Co. stamps I got to send them out with? It’s all in the details, right?
What a perfect way to introduce our little love. Hello, world!
Happy Heart Day!
Note: This post was in no way sponsored by TinyPrints, the USPS, Christina Lundeen Photography or Lady Antebellum. I wish it had been. Who can help me with that? I probably need to get more than 5 people to read my blog before that will happen, huh? 🙂
